In the 1990’s, I worked with children, adolescents, and adults in public city hospitals on psychiatric in-patient units, medical rehabilitation units, and HIV/AIDS organizations. The clients I worked with were dealing with serious mental health problems, and life circumstances related to poverty, homelessness, medical illness, separation from loved ones, and traumatic loss.

After September 11th, 2001, New York City therapists were immersed in helping people to cope with the trauma, and challenges that New Yorkers were facing after the attack on the city. In the early days, and weeks that followed September 11th, I counseled FEMA workers, police officers, and firemen at the midtown temporary Trauma Center on the Hudson River’s Pier 56. I also provided short & long term therapy for people experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression as a result of 9/11.

2001 to 2006, I worked at the F.E.G.S. Manhattan Counseling Center located downtown, where I provided comprehensive mental health treatment for adults and adolescents. Treatment included diagnosis & medication consultation with staff psychiatrists, and psychologists; individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and meditation groups for stress reduction. I also worked with clients who were newly released from prison with the process of transitioning back into society, in accordance with the U.S. Federal Probation Program.

2006 until 2009, I lived and worked in Rome, Italy providing psychotherapy for American expatriates, and other English speakers from the European Union who were living, and working in Rome. I provided individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, creative arts therapy, and collaborated with bilingual psychiatrists for diagnostic assessments, and medication treatment.

2009: “Give a Hour”, I volunteer through “Give an Hour” to provide psychotherapy to veterans of the Iraqi or Afghanistan wars, and to their families at no charge. “Give an Hour” is a nonprofit organization providing free mental health services to U.S. military personnel and their families. Contact "giveanhour.com" for a referral for therapy.

2009 to 2013: I had a private psychotherapy practice in mid-town Manhattan. Being back in New York city after living in Rome, Italy was quite an adjustment, but it did feel good to be back home in New York. During those years I continued to hone my skills as a psychotherapist/art therapist working with couples, families, and individuals.

2014 to present: Psychotherapy practice in Portland, Oregon. Since the beginning of the pandemic I've been providing tele-therapy on Doxy.me, a HIPAA compliant platform with people living in Oregon and New York State. I'm licensed in both states.
